Negative Side of Tourism

Tourism is good way to uplift a country's economy but it have some negative effects like problems in pollution and dilution of cultures.

To study and hope to find a solution to this problem, two students from Western Washington University went to Peru (community based) to understand the actual situation when tourist goes do wrong things and how to get tourism right.

San Rafael's Aide

San Rafael, Peru is populated with over 60 families that faces two major problems. The first is the availability of water (especially in summer) and the second is lack of basic english language education (to boost its eco - tourism).

But thanks to seven Florida State students and four faculty members that went there last summer in the hopes of easing the lives in this tiny village by fixing their faulty water system and teaching intensive english language course.

Peruvian Incas

Peru is a South American country which is with a fascinating geography with encompasses an arid coastal desert and with the rugged snow capped peaks of the Andes and rainforests that form the Amazon basin.

Peru is witness to the heritage of the Inca empire. Not just because of stone Inca buildings still stands but because of the living descendants of the Incas which still work the land and speak their own language Quechua.

Art for Treatment

This year's NOCHE DE ARTE will take place in Puericultorio Pérez Araníbar and will offer more than 600 art pieces from 300 artist.

NOCHE DE ARTE has become one of the most important events in Peru not only because it showcases modern Peruvian art but it also raises funds for ALDIMI which is a self financed group that helps needy cancer patients.

ALDIMI is lead by Fatima McKinley, wife of the Ambassador of the United States of America and president of Association of the American Embassy.
